To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether the number of nuclear-assigned units of 155mm artillery is to be increased to compensate for the withdrawal of 8in howitzers; and if he will make a statement.

In accordance with long-standing plans, the number of 155mm systems deployed in BAOR will be increased for the purpose of replacing 105mm Abbot guns. There are, however, no plans to increase the number of 155mm nuclear certified systems to compensate for the withdrawal from the 8in nuclear artillery role.
