To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Newham, North-West of 25 July, if he will give an estimate of the number of otters represented by the 1,020 pieces of otter skin seized by the Hong Kong authorities in the first six months of 1988.

It is believed that the 1,020 pieces of otter skin seized correspond to an equivalent number of otters.
