§ Mr. JannerTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science in what quasi-governmental bodies or other organisations under his aegis he has authority to request or require the carrying out of ethnic monitoring exercises in accordance with the code of the Commission for Racial Equality; and what ethnic monitoring and equal opportunities exercises have been carried out by each such department.
§ Mrs. RumboldMy right hon. Friend does not prescribe the day-to-day personnel management policy of the non-departmental public bodies sponsored by the Department. Nevertheless, he would expect them to bear in mind the code of practice for the elimination of racial discrimination and the promotion of equality of opportunity in employment as recommended by the Commission for Racial Equality.
§ Mr. JannerTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) how many of those who responded to his recent ethnic origin survey and stated that they were in grades 1 to 7 were in grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, respectively;
(2) how many of those who responded to his recent ethnic origin survey were senior executive officers and higher executive officers, respectively.
§ Mrs. RumboldThe survey was conducted on the undertaking that anonymity would be preserved. Any further breakdown from that given to the hon. and learned Member on 23 June could identify individuals and I am unable therefore to provide the information requested.
