To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many emergency police helicopter landing pads there are in south Yorkshire for use in emergencies; where they are sited; and if prior permission was sought from local authorities or private landowners.

The following 23 locations have been identified by South Yorkshire police as sites which could be used in emergencies by helicopters hired by the force:

  • Barnsley District General Hospital
  • Rotherham District General Hospital
  • Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield
  • Northern General Hospital, Sheffield
  • Lodge Moor Hospital, Sheffield
  • Doncaster Airport
  • Doncaster Racecourse
  • RAF Finningley
  • Adwick School, Doncaster
  • Bentley High Street Middle School
  • Queen's Ground, Barnsley
  • Recreation Ground, Park Avenue, Panistone
  • Dorothy Hyman Stadium, Cudworth
  • Rockingham Sports Ground, Hoyland Common
  • Herringthorpe Valley Playing Fields (rear of pavilion Boswell street side)
  • Aven Tools, Maltby
  • Thomas Rotherham College, Rotherham
  • Phoenix Golf Club, Rotherham
  • Tinsley Park Golf Club, Sheffield
  • Balfour Darwin's Sports Ground, Hathersage road, Sheffield
  • Laycock's, Archer road, Sheffield (access to site off Periwood Road)
  • Niagara Sports Ground, Sheffield
  • Shirecliffe Heliport

I understand that the owners of these sites have agreed to them being used by helicopters operated by or for the police force.
