To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received concerning the maintenance of standards of further education in the area currently served by the Inner London education authority.

The Department has received a number of representations expressing general concerns about the provision of further education in the area currently served by the Inner London educational authority. My right hon. Friend has made it clear that he will expect the inner London councils to address this issue as part of their development plans for the provision of an education service in their areas from 1 April 1990.
