HC Deb 18 July 1988 vol 137 c480W
Mr. Hardy

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the latest available figures for the average delay between the submission of documents concerning an appeal to the tribunal in respect of social security allowances and the appeal being heard.

Mr. Portillo

The latest available administrative statistics on social security appeal tribunals for Great Britain relate to appeals heard in the quarter ending 31 December 1987. For appeals heard in the three months to December 1987 the average time between submission of the appeal documents to the tribunal and the hearing was 16.1 weeks.
