To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many consignments of coral have been impounded by customs officials since the coming into operation of appendix II of the conference on international trade in endangered species 1985.

[holding answer 8 July 1988]: Latest available records show that Customs has made eight seizures of coral sine 29 August 1985, when EC regulation No. 2384/5 came into force.
