HC Deb 26 January 1988 vol 126 c214W
Mr. Harry Barnes

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the current hospital waiting list in Derbyshire, North-East for(a) urgent cases, (b) urgent cases which have been waiting for more than one month, (c) non-urgent cases and (d) non-urgent cases which have been waiting for more than one year; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Newton

Due to the introduction of a new computer system on 31 March 1987, the data supplied by district health authorities in Trent region did not distinguish between in-patient waiting list cases classified by consultants as urgent or non-urgent. The available information for North Derbyshire health authority is that on 31 March 1987 there were 2,520 patients on the inpatient waiting list, 684 of whom had been waiting for more than one year. This is an improvement over the position at 31 March 1986 when the in-patient waiting list stood at 2,633 of whom 883 had been waiting over a year.
