HC Deb 26 January 1988 vol 126 c229W
Mr. Jim Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many people were receiving domestic assistance additional requirements as part of their supplementary benefit in each year from 1981–82 to 1986–87.

Mr. Needham

Actual numbers are not known but, based on a 5 per cent. sample, it is estimated that some 213 people were receiving an addition for this purpose in May 1987. Reliable estimates are not available for earlier years.

Mr. Jim Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will provide a breakdown of the number of domestic assistance additional requirements paid by each social security office in Northern Ireland for each year from 1981–82 to 1986–87.

Mr. Needham

I regret that a reliable breakdown is not available.
