HC Deb 25 January 1988 vol 126 cc21-2W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, further to his answer to the hon. Member for Great Grimsby on 14 January,Official Report, column 358, whether radioactive materials from Sellafield are flown by air under international regulations; where they go to outside the United Kingdom; and what representations he has made to the International Atomic Energy Agency in the light of its current review.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The Department does not collect detailed information on individual consignments but I understand that radioactive materials from Sellafield are transported by air to France and in very small sample quantities to one or two other European countries. The United Kingdom will play a full part in the IAEA review. We have expressed no initial views.
