HC Deb 25 January 1988 vol 126 c11W
Mr. Alton

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what safety precautions his Department recommends relating to the use of lignite in power stations.

Mr. Viggers

All commercial power stations in Northern Ireland are required to comply with the safety provisions contained in the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978 and the Factories Act (Northern Ireland) 1965. These provisions would apply to a lignite-fired power station.
