Mr. Atkins

The levels of the development programmes for individual areas for 1988–89 are currently under consideration by English Estates. The levels for 1989–90 will not be established until next year.

Mr. Cummings

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what developments have been carried out by English Industrial Estates in the county of Durham in the last five years, and at what cost.

Mr. Atkins

In the period January 1983 to January 1988 English Estates has completed 228 units in the county of Durham on behalf of my Department totalling 785,233 sq. ft. and costing £16.8 million.

Mr. Cummings

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what level of support English Industrial Estates will direct towards inner city areas in 1988–89 and 1989–90.

Mr. Atkins

The level of the new managed workspace programme for the inner cities has not yet been finalised, but it will be additional to the planned expenditure under the existing programme for he assisted areas.
