To ask the Secretary of State for Energy when he will next meet the chairmen of the area electricity boards to discuss privatisation of the electricity supply industry.

Mr. Parkinson

I last met the area board chairmen as a group on 13 January. No arrangements for further meetings have yet been made.

Mr. Dykes

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he has examined suggestions for divesting the electricity area boards of their high-street showrooms, when electricity privatisation takes place; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Spicer

I am examining a number of suggestions for the future structure of the area electricity boards.
