HC Deb 25 January 1988 vol 126 c20W
29. Mr. O'Brien

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he has discussed the desulphurisation programme with the chairman of the Central Electricity Generating Board; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Spicer

I have discussed the Central Electricity Generating Board's flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) programme with Lord Marshall. The board's plans to retrofit 6,000 MW of existing generating capacity at Drax and Fiddlers Ferry power stations were announced in October last year. In addition, all future coal-fired power stations will be required to be fitted with FGD.
