HC Deb 21 January 1988 vol 125 c854W
Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement regarding the implications of the case of the late Mr. Thomas Johnson of 90 Raisenhall road, Sheffield, for the future practice and procedures of the South Yorkshire ambulance service.

Mrs. Currie

[holding answer 18 January 1988:] Trent regional health authority is responsible for managing the South Yorkshire metropolitan ambulance service. I understand that the incident involving Mr. Johnson on 14 December referred to in the hon. Member's letter of 12 January to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has already been investigated. I have asked Sir Michael Carlisle, the regional health authority chairman, to look urgently into the second case involving Mr. Johnson on 4 January and to write to the hon. Member about both incidents at the same time as reporting to me.
