To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what has been the response to the consultation paper on competition in the management of local authority sport and leisure facilities; and if he will make a statement.

A total of 352 responses have been received to the consultation paper which invited comments by 11 December 1987. These are now being considered in detail.
