§ Mr. Tony BanksTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his reply of 13 January,Official Report, column 280, in respect of each of the organisations listed for each of the past five years (a) how much low-level radioactive waste has beeen discharged, (b) what it was, (c) how it was dispersed and (d) if any discharge has been outside authorised limits.
§ Mr. MoynihanRecords of discharges are not held by Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution, but they are kept by each of the organisations concerned. They are inspected by Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution to ensure that discharges are within authorised limits. These records show that there have been no discharges outside the authorised limits. Waste liquids are discharged into nearby rivers after treatment.
