HC Deb 14 January 1988 vol 125 c401W
Mr. Steen

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services when he hopes to send the decision on war disability pension to Mr. J. F. Yeatman of Wembury, Plymouth, reference M1/824D0, following his application for a medical re-examination in January 1987 and his medical re-examination on 29 July 1987, the findings of which examination have still not been communicated to Mr. Yeatman; and if he will make a statement as to the reasons for the delay in this matter.

Mr. Portillo

I regret the delay in this case. It is mainly due to a backlog in dealing with claims to war pension because of a significant increase in the number of claims in 1986 and 1987, coupled with the need to obtain further evidence about Mr. Yeatman's medical history following his medical examination in July 1987. A decision will be sent to Mr. Yeatman within the next few days.
