To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make a further statement on the detailed timetable for the denationalisation of British Steel.

As I indicated on 3 December, the Government intend to privatise BSC as soon as possible, subject to market conditions. The necessary legislation will be introduced later in the current Session. No decisions have yet been taken, however, on the detailed timetable for the privatisation.
