To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many children under the age of 16 years were held on remand in each of the last five years; and of these, how many were subsequently given custodial sentences.

The numbers of children aged 14 or 15 received into prison under unruly certificates made by the courts under sections 24 and 297 of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1975 were:
