To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to initiate a survey of radioactive contamination in Galloway.

Regular surveys of Dumfries and Galloway are included in the programme of monitoring of environmental radioactivity in Scotland organised on behalf of the Secretary of State by Her Majesty's industrial pollution inspectorate. The most recent summary of the findings is in the Scottish Development Department statistical bulletin No. 1(E)1987 which is in the Library.
