§ Sir Peter EmeryTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will recommend to health authorities that they should reimburse drivers in the hospital car service at rates at least equal to the rates notified annually by his Department, based upon those agreed by the General Whitley council for National Health Service staff;
(2) if he will list those health authorities which reimburse drivers in the hospital car services at rates below those agreed by the General Whitley council.
§ Mrs. CurrieEach year the Department recommends to health authorities mileage rates for volunteer hospital car service drivers comparable to those agreed for health service staff. The rates adopted are a matter for authorities to decide in the light of local circumstances. Information about the amount per mile paid by individual authorities is not collected centrally.
