HC Deb 11 January 1988 vol 125 c175W
Mr. Steel

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Service, what is the conception rate for people under 20 years in England and Wales.

Mr. Newton

During 1985 there were 61.7 conceptions to women aged under 20 per 1,000 women aged 15 to 19 resident in England and Wales. This figure includes conceptions leading to maternities or to abortions under the 1967 Act, but excludes conceptions leading to spontaneous abortions.
