HC Deb 23 February 1988 vol 128 c139W
Mr. Hood

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many schools or educational centres for the teaching of dyslexic children there are in Scotland.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

In accordance with the recommendations made in the report of the committee of inquiry into the education of handicapped children and young people (1978) local authorities make provision, as far as practicable, for children with special educational needs in the school system as a whole rather than in specialised establishments. Information about the number of schools providing for dyslexic children is not held centrally.
