§ Mr. ParkinsonNumbers employed fluctuate over time; currently the Department employs around 1,000 civil servants whose normal hours are 41 per week for full-time staff, and of whom 10 per cent. are on flexitime. Four are on job-sharing schemes and two are on a four-day working week. All except casual staff acquire the pension rights provided by the principal Civil Service pension scheme; last year five out of 34 officers who retired qualified for a full pension.
