§ Mr. Donald ThompsonOver the five years up to 1 April 1987 the Intervention Board for Agricultural Produce spent £2,575 million buying surplus produce into intervention and received £870 million from sales out of intervention. During that period the board's costs of storing intervened produce, excluding financing charges, were £385 million.
