HC Deb 17 February 1988 vol 127 cc674-5W
Mr. Michael Morris

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food by what estimated amount, to the nearest £100 million, British farmers' incomes have been depressed due to the discrepancy between the value of the green pound and the real pound sterling for the two years 1986 and 1987.

Mr. MacGregor

Farmers' incomes in 1986 and 1987 were affected by many factors. I regret that it is not possible to assess reliably what the aggregate income levels would have been in these years given that the changes in the green pound as envisaged could have affected many other decisions on support levels.
