HC Deb 10 February 1988 vol 127 c259W
75. Ms. Primarolo

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what are the implications of the recent White Paper on his Department for its responsibility for regulating the City financial institutions.

Mr. Maude

Paragraphs 2.27 to 2.33 of the White Paper explain the work being done to increase confidence in the working of markets by achieving a fair level of protection for the individual customer and investor. The Financial Services Act 1986 establishes a new regulatory structure which will provide a comprehensive system of investor protection which will retain the flexibility to respond to developments in rapidly changing markets.
