§ 57. Mr. HarrisTo ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what is the future planned expenditure on English Industrial Estates.
§ Mr. AtkinsIn 1987–88 English Estates' planned programme in the assisted areas was increased from £33.5 million to £37 million. As a result of increased levels of asset sales, it is likely to achieve a record programme of £47 million. In 1988–89 it has been asked to plan for a programme £5 million higher than this year's (that is, £42 million). In practice it may exceed this figure and it has been authorised to spend up to £49 million if it can generate the necessary funds from its own resources. The level of the new managed workspace programme for the inner cities has not yet been finalised. It will, however, be additional to the planned expenditure under the existing programme for the assisted areas.
