HC Deb 08 February 1988 vol 127 cc116-7W
Mr. Robin Cook

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish a table showing the relevant figures in table 14.1 of Cm. 288-II adjusted by the hospital and community health services pay and price deflator.

Mr. Newton

[holding answer 26 January 1988]: The figures requested are given in the table for the years from 1982–83 to 1986–87. No forecasts of pay and price movements have been made for subsequent years. In addition health authorities had the benefit of recurrent savings of the order of £400 million over this period at 1986–87 prices from cash-releasing cost-improvement programmes.
