HL Deb 03 February 1988 vol 492 c1181WA
Lord Williams of Elvel

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the cost of changing the stationery used by the Department of Trade and Industry to incorporate the new formula "DTI—the department for Enterprise".

The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (Lord Young of Graffham)

We have introduced new letterheads in the Department to replace a wider range of diverse styles which were previously in use. An expensive survey would be needed to identify the exact costs of redundant stationery, including those held locally by secretaries and typing pools. We estimate the purchase cost of redundant stationery held in the central stationery stores to be approximately £5,000. However this will be offset to a significant extent by using this stationery internally or in scrap pads.
