HC Deb 12 December 1988 vol 143 cc474-5W
Mr. Patchett

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list in theOfficial Report the total number of deaths at work, the total number of accidents at work and the total number of cases of workplace-related ill-health for each of the years 1974 to 1987 inclusive.

Mr. Nicholls

The available statistics, based on reported injuries covering all industries in Great Britain, are set out in the table below. It is believed that all cases of reportable fatal injuries are reported. Statistics for non-fatal major injuries, and over 3 day injuries for 1986–87, are believed to be significantly reduced by under-reporting.
