To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will estimate the likely effects of the proposed privatisation of Shorts on the company's FJX short-haul jet project; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Viggers

The decision on whether or not to proceed with the development of the FJX will be a matter for the purchaser of the company. There is not yet enough information available from the company on the FJX project for decisions to be made. The future of the project will be decided within the context of privatisation.
