HC Deb 22 April 1988 vol 131 c583W
Mr. Atkinson

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make a statement on the current state of trade relations with Togo; and if he has plans to improve them.

Mr. Alan Clark

The level of United Kingdom-Togolese trade is relatively low (in 1987 United Kingdom imports were £2.6 million; United Kingdom exports were £15.4 million), reflecting Togo's current economic difficulties. However, the country remains a useful market for British exporters and it is hoped that our trading links can be maintained and developed.
