HC Deb 20 April 1988 vol 131 c490W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Newham, North-West (Mr. Banks) on 28 January,Official Report, column 375, what progress he has made in formulating a detailed response to the resolution passed at the sixth meeting of the parties to CITES, relating to rhinoceros populations and trade in rhinoceros products.

Mr. Moynihan

A detailed response to this resolution remains a matter for discussion with our European Community partners. Meanwhile the controls on international trade in rhino horn remain as set out in my reply of 28 January. We have in addition, through our embassies in Kinshasa and Dhubai registered with the Burundi and UAE authorities, United Kingdom's concern about illegal trade in this product.
