To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals he has to create greater fiscal neutrality amongst the different housing tenancies.

One of the aims of the Government's housing policy is to encourage the revival of private investment in rented housing. The Chancellor's proposal, announced in the Budget, to extend the business expansion scheme to cover the provision of private rented housing will be a major help in encouraging investment in this sector.
