HC Deb 26 October 1987 vol 121 c132W
Mr. Norman Hogg

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what extra resources his Department is making available to deal with the problems of child abuse.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

In addition to paying rate support grant to regional and islands councils, whose social work responsibilities extend to child welfare, the Scottish Office provides substantial financial support for research into various aspects of child abuse, for voluntary organisations such as the Royal Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and for the Overnewton child sexual abuse project in Glasgow.
