asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many clinics and laboratories are carrying out cervical cancer tests in Scotland; and where are they operating.

Many clinics and GPs take cervical cancer smears which must then be forwarded to laboratories for testing for cervical cancer. The 19 laboratories examining cervical cancer smears in Scotland are as follows:

I have received and am presently considering the report of a Scottish Health Service Planning Council working group which reviewed the cervical cytology service in Scotland. Guidance to health boards will be issued in due course.
