HC Deb 26 October 1987 vol 121 c107W
Mr. Norman Hogg

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has any plans to introduce a comprehensive scheme of screening for breast cancer among women aged below 50 years; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

No. We announced earlier this year that we accepted the recommendations of the Forrest report on breast cancer screening that there should be a comprehensive three-yearly screening programme for all women between the ages of 50 and 64. I recently announced that the first four breast cancer screening centres will be established in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee during 1988.

Mr. Norman Hogg

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the total number of breast cancer screening machines in each health board.
