§ Ms. Richardsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will list (a) the members of the Equal Opportunities Commission, (b) the criteria for selection of members, (c) the relevant qualifications of present members, (d) the number of Trades Union Congress-nominated places and (e) how many Trades Union Congress-nominated places are held by women.

Members are appointed on the basis of the qualifications and experience they can bring to the work of the commission to enable it to carry out its duties under parts VI and VII of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975. The present members have a wide experience in employment, education and the law. Three members were nominated by the Trades Union Congress, of whom all are women.
