HC Deb 21 October 1987 vol 120 c745W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what assistance was given by the Wales Tourist Board to the Anglesey sea zoo; who put up the rest of the money; why the assistance was in the form of a grant; and whether he will make provision for the repayment of grants in the case of successful projects on an equitable basis.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The Wales Tourist Board has given grant assistance of £22,350. In offering assistance the board must satisfy itself that a project is fully funded, but information on the detail of the package is treated as commercial in confidence. The board provides, in all cases, the minimum assistance it judges necessary if a project is to proceed, and in the form of grant or loan as appropriate to the individual project. Provision now exists for the Wales Tourist Board to offer grants that would be repayable if project returns exceed expectations.
