Mr. Gordon Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services how many pensioners he estimates now receive a full rate rebate but are not on supplementary benefit or supplementary pension; and if he will give his estimate for(a) Scotland, (b) England and (c) Wales.

Mr. Portillo

The information is not available in the form requested. It is estimated that in the autumn of 1986, 280,000 people in Great Britain were in receipt of a full rate rebate but were not on supplementary benefit or supplementary pension.
