HC Deb 05 November 1987 vol 121 cc796-7W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Prime Minister if she will take steps through international agencies to protect from further exploration the site of the SS Titanic.

The Prime Minister

I have every sympathy with those who do not wish the Titanic to be further disturbed by salvage operation. However, any action agreed through international agencies would be unlikely to be effective because it would be legally binding only in states which chose to be party to it.
