Mr. Winnick

asked the Prime Minister what is the salary that will be paid to Sir Philip Woodfield as a staff counsellor for the security and intelligence services; and what are the terms of his employment.

The Prime Minister

The staff counsellor will receive an annual retainer of £5,000 and a daily fee of £100, and will be reimbursed for any expenses necessarily incurred in the course of his duties. These payments are non-pensionable.

Mr. Winnick

asked the Prime Minister if authority will be extended to Sir Philip Woodfield to look into allegations of abuses by the security services made by those outside the security service.

asked the Prime Minister what accommodation, office and secretarial facilities and by which Government Department, will be provided to Sir Philip Woodfield as staff counsellor for the security and intelligence services.
