HC Deb 05 November 1987 vol 121 c813W
Mr. Ron Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about James Abra, the Briton held by the Libyan authorities.

Mr. Eggar

There is an appeal outstanding on Mr. Abra's behalf against his sentence of life imprisonment for spying. The appeal may be heard in November. I also understand that Mr. Abra's family lodged an appeal for clemency with the Libyan authorities in August this year.
