§ Mr. MellorWe warmly welcome the intermediate nuclear force agreement now in prospect. We and our NATO allies regularly assess the level of forces required to maintain our strategy of flexible response and are currently considering the implications of an INF agreement for NATO policy. We look forward to further progress in the talks aimed at achieving a 50 per cent. cut in the strategic offensive weapons of the United States and Soviet Union.
