asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many Harrier aircraft have crashed since 1979; and what is the total cost involved.

Since 1 January 1979, 26 Royal Air Force and 12 Royal Navy Harriers have suffered irreparable damage in accidents. The cost of this number of aircraft, in current prices, would be approximately £304 million.
