Mr. Ron Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many haemophiliacs have been infected by AIDS during the past 12 months following blood transfusions at National Health Service hospitals; and if compensation will be paid.

Mr. Newton

No haemophiliac patients are known to have been infected with the AIDS virus following the use of blood transfusions or blood products in the past 12 months.
