§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the way in which the Property Services Agency and contractors conducted the sale of equipment used for building the airport at Mount Pleasant in the Falklands.
§ Mr. ChopeMost of the equipment used in the building of the Mount Pleasant airport was bought, and consequently owned, by the contractor, Laing-Mowlem-ARC Joint Venture. Disposal of that equipment is entirely a matter for the joint venture.
340WIn respect of surplus stores and equipment sold by PSA, I refer to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Newham, North-West (Mr. Banks) on 24 November at column 43. That sale realised net receipts to the Exchequer of just over £500,000.
