§ Mr. Douglas HoggThere are now nearly 3,000 home watch schemes in the Greater Manchester police force area. Virtually all of these schemes were set up during 1986 and it is therefore too early to assess their contribution towards reducing crime. However, they provide a very clear indication that members of the public in the area want to be involved in action against crime.
